Living life one day at a time as a family of six...3 busy and bouncy boys and 1 Ukrainian princess. Our third son Joaquin was our unexpected blessing who came to us with a little something extra called Down syndrome and inspired us to adopt Sofia an orphan we fell in love with through Reece's Rainbow. We hope that our story will help open people's eyes to the beauty and gift that ALL children are. We are all more alike than different!

Little Shrines
There are a few special places throughout our home that remind us of our little girl who is coming home soon. The boys love saving all their coins and putting them in Sofia's piggy bank. Somehow having the little shoes out and the outfits and the pictures help remind us why we are all working so hard to make this happen.
Some day...very soon...there will be a little baby girl here that will fill those shoes and play with the books and toys and who will wear those adorable outfits.
So...our suitcases are out on the dining room floor and our dining room table has become a collection site for all the little things we need when we travel. We are starting to get things lined up for when we leave. We've even purchased a pink and white polka dot coat, a knit hat and warm clothes if by some WILD chance we were allowed to bring Sofia home on our first trip.
There is still so much to do and we still have some fundraising left to do (just $5,000 and we'll have met our GOAL!) and we're all a bit tired and stressed but it's all SO worth it!

What sweet little testimonies to your family's love for Sofia. She is one lucky girl to come into a family of 3 brothers ready to love and protect her! I'll continue to pray that you can do this in ONE trip!!!

How exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's such an amazing journey! Thank you for sharing it with us! I have so many questions, where can I learn more about the process you are undergoing? One trip, two trips? I am in awe of your family :D
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this has brought tears to my eyes. This is so wonderful! I can hardly wait, so I can't imagine what you are going through. I want to see the coat and hat. I think I'll start praying a little extra to get Sofia home the first trip over. I am just imaging the first time you walk in, see Sofia and get to bend over, hold her and pick her up. How will they every make you let go to put her back down for her naps? :-)
ReplyDeleteI continue to be amazed at how quickly things are going for your family! How exciting to be thinking of packing your bags!!! (I'll be praying that you get one of the OTHER Dnep judges...)

ReplyDeleteI'm very excited for you and praying everything goes smoothly and quickly for you!
I was just reading your time line of everything you've had to do - you guys seriously went fast!! You'll have her home in record time to enjoy the summer with her new family!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear that you're on your way to see Sofia! Time seems to be moving very slowly right now... May this be her last holiday spent without her new family. Prayers and hugs to all of you. I love that the boys are using the piggy bank. Warms my heart :-)
